If you are looking for a really good realtor worth their salt and considering working with Carol Thompson, my advice is; look no further.

To cut a long story short, we tried to sell directly for over a month before, facing an impending time crunch, we turned to Carol. She then helped us get a price for our home, which exceeded our most optimistic estimate by over $20,000, within just three days of us listing with her. And I’m talking net proceeds after Carol’s commissions are factored in.

Among the many specific things I could mention to recommend her, I will single out two illustrations. Her courteous treatment of the other realtors and their clients, particularly the unsuccessful bidders and their agents on the second evening when we had something of bidding war on our hands, was something we really appreciated. I am sure those people will all want to deal with her again. Then, after we found, at the last possible minute, that we needed to leave a bunch of stuff at the house for a week after the new owner already took possession, Carol took care of it for us. Don’t ask me how!

Speaking for my wife and myself we rate Carol a ‘perfect 10’ realtor and if we ever move back to Calgary, I’m certain we wouldn’t think of working with anyone else in a house hunt.

My wife and I recently moved to Calgary from Scotland and decided to start looking for a new home. Luckily for us one of the first homes we chose to view was one of Carol Thompson’s listings. Although we did not buy that particular house we had found ourselves a Realtor. Carol was a great help to us in all aspects of buying a home here in Canada, even though we were clueless about the system here, Carol took the time to explain it all to us and really went way above and beyond what should reasonably be expected from a Realtor. House hunting is a stressful time usually, but Carol’s enthusiasm for her work rubs off on you and you end up looking forward to going to view some potential properties. She really did work tirelessly to help us find a suitable home and put our needs and requirements to the top of the list, although she had a few other clients on the go at the same time, Carol always made time for us whenever we called to arrange some viewings or even just for some advice. I would not hesitate in recommending Carol to anyone who is looking to buy or sell a property as I am confident they would receive the same fantastic service and commitment that we did. A further testament to Carol was when she received a referral from the people that we ended up buying from. They were asked by a neighbor about the Realtor they had used and instead they chose to recommend Carol instead of their own.

For starters, we cannot say enough about Carol and how she made our house sale and purchase seamless. My wife and I had already bought and moved into our new home. We weren’t comfortable with selling our home while we still living in it, with strangers trooping through at all hours of the day and night. But once we were out, and facing the prospect of two mortgages, we decided the quicker we sold, the better.

We had planned on selling it ourselves, but thought we would check out listing with an agent as well. One of my friends from work gave me Carol’s name and she came out to see us. We had had a figure in mind that we felt we could sell the house for, and were quite surprised (and pleased!) when Carol showed us the house was worth considerably more than we had originally thought. Even taking into account the commissions which would be paid on the sale, we were ahead of the game using her as our agent.

Prior to listing the house, Carol gave us some pointers on minor touch-ups we could do that would help maximize our sales price. During the sales process, Carol was in communication with us on an almost daily basis, giving us feedback from the showings, and updating us on ‘the competition’ in our neighbourhood. It was during an open house she held that the offer we accepted came in.

We were pleased with the work she did for us and wouldn’t hesitate recommending her to any of our friends. Nowadays, everyone seems to have a shortage of time, and listing with Carol gave us the time to do things we enjoy, rather than having to assume to role of real estate agents, trying to sell our most valuable asset.

My husband John and I bought our first place brand new from the ground up and never had any experience with a Real Estate Agent. After a couple years of bliss in our perfect little apartment, we decided it was time for something bigger. Doing this meant we had to sell our place which meant we needed a Real Estate Agent. What a daunting task and where to begin? My parents had one but he wasn’t a big fan of cats and well the reality was that we had two. None of our close friends had any contacts that they would recommend and finally in talking with colleagues, John’s boss recommended Carol Thompson. I made the phone call not knowing what to ask or where to start, a little apprehensive about the whole situation. All my worries were quickly put to rest by the voice on the other line. An animal lover herself, Carol was very sincere, honest, and knowledgeable about the market and the process of selling and buying. As our new place was not to be ready for quite some time (we decided to build again!) she immediately put our names on her email list, which updated us on when an apartment in our building sold and the details of the sale. This kept us informed on what was happening to the market relative to our apartment and quickly put me at ease. Furthermore, she would drop us an email from time to time to see how things were going with the new place, but never once put any pressure on us.

Finally, almost a full year later, we got our possession date for our new home. I wrote Carol a quick email and let her know we were ready to put our apartment on the market. The night Carol and her partner, Lin Elder, came over was memorable. They helped us rearrange some furniture (I was 7 months pregnant at the time), gave us some helpful hints on removing clutter and purchasing a few home staging items and within a week our first apartment looked like a beautiful little “show home”. We put it on the market in a very competitive market I might add, with over 20 other units for sale in our building alone. A week later after just a few showings we had a very generous offer which turned out to be our sale!

Our experience with Carol and Lin has been absolutely wonderful and my husband and I would recommend them to anyone and certainly will be recommending them to any friends and family who are looking to sell or buy. This entire process of selling your first place, which to me seemed a little off-putting, was in fact the opposite- it was easy, straightforward, quick, and actually kind of fun and I know that having Carol as our Real Estate Agent was certainly a reason why.

If a person is looking at selling/buying a home and wants someone who is knowledgeable about the market, professional and hard working, yet very personable and wonderful at keeping you informed, I would simply say call Carol and within minutes you’ll know that this is the person you need and I mean that in the most sincere way!
